On New Year's Eve, Oscar Grant was shot execution-style by a transit police officer in Oakland, California. He was shot in the back while face-down on a subway platform, unarmed and posing no threat.

Twelve days later--despite several videos showing what happened--the officer who killed Grant hasn't been arrested, charged, or even questioned. He quit the force and has refused to speak. The District Attorney has done nothing.

It's time to demand that California Attorney General Jerry Brown take over the case and arrest Grant's killer, and to ask that the US Department of Justice launch an independent investigation into the conduct of the local authorities. Please join us and ask your friends and family to do the same:

Troy Anthony Davis, convicted of killing an off-duty police officer in 1989, is to be executed Oct. 27. He turned himself in and has maintained his innocence.His case was based solely on eye witness testimony and since his trial 7 out of the 9 key witnesses have recanted their testimony saying they were young, with criminal histories, and intimidated into saying what they said. Troy Davis was to be executed a few week ago and recieved a pardon just two hours before he was going to be put to death and the GA supreme court agreed to look over the case.  A few days ago, without giving a reason, they simply denied an appeal and reset a date for execution between Oct 27 and Nov 7th.  Whatever your view on capital punishment, please take action on this case. This is without doubt a case that needs to be re-reviewed before making a decision we cannot take back. The good news is that my heart will heal. The bad news is that my car may not. Yesterday my car, my fellow traveller, was stolen by somebody who will be no doubt disappointed to know that only one speaker works, two of the tires are nearly bald, and the odometer is running out of spaces to count miles. If you ever wanted to support the Athens Boys Choir, this is the time. i need your love and support. I loved my sweet baby jeep and it's lingering smells of bennigans fajitas and rugby socks that got worse with summer heat.  I can only hope the person who stole it pukes outside the car when they smell it as to not further tarnish its already ripped and stained interior.  That, or they choke on it (but still survive) I can only imagine their Karma Points dropping minute by minute.  on that note, please come to my shows. This tour's got a lot of making up to do...and they say that making up is hard to do. Tee-f'n-hee. See you there!

LaVena Johnson was a 19 year old private in the Army, serving in Iraq, when she was raped, murdered, and her body was burned--by someone from her own military base. Despite overwhelming physical evidence, the Army called her death a suicide and has closed the case.¹

For three years, LaVena's parents have been fighting for answers. At almost every turn, they've been met with closed doors or lies. They've appealed to Congress, the one body that can hold the military accountable. But, as in other cases where female soldiers have been raped and murdered and the Army has called it suicide, Congress has failed to act.

Eighth Grade. Larry King, an eighth grader, was shot in the head and killed a few weeks ago by a fellow student, a fourteen year old. Larry, a fifteen year old was targeted because he was openly gay. sadness. A very well loved member of the Atlanta Community named Melvin "pee-wee Hymen" was in a motorcycle accident a monthy ago. He is badly injured and still in the ICU.
